Jagat Prakash Nadda: News

Jagat Prakash Nadda is an Indian politician and lawyer who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has been serving as the National President of the saffron party since 2020. He is a former Union Minister and a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh. Nadda was born in Patna and was active in the student politics organized by right-wing student groups such as Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He graduated in arts from Patna University and pursued a degree in law from Himachal Pradesh University. He was in charge of the Lok Sabha elections on behalf of the BJP’s youth wing in 1989. In 1993, he contested and won his first Legislative Assembly election from Himachal Pradesh. Nadda retained the seat the following term and was re-elected in the 2007 Assembly elections. Between 1998 and 2010, he held key portfolios in the Cabinet such as Health and Family Welfare, Forest, Environment, Science and Technology, and Parliamentary Affairs, amongst others. He has been a vociferous voice for the saffron party and was elected its National President in 2020.
